New Balance shoe cleaning in Mumbai
A New Balance 574 is suede, mesh and leather all on one shoe, often in the same square inch. That mix is exactly why they are tricky to clean at home.
Three materials, three methods
The 574 is suede overlays on mesh. The 990 adds pigskin suede and a chunky sole. The 550 is mostly leather. Water that helps the mesh can stain the suede right next to it, so we work zone by zone instead of washing the whole shoe at once.
That grey suede
Grey is the classic New Balance colour, and wow, does it show every water mark and oil spot. We dry clean it, steam the problem patches and brush the nap so it reads as one even grey again, not a patchwork.
Soles
The white 550 sole and the 2002R midsole both come up nicely with a hand scrub. Older pairs with real yellowing can be treated, and we will be straight about how much better they are likely to get.
The process
How we clean New Balance shoes
Pickup and a proper look
We collect from your door, note scuffs, loose soles and old stains with you, and tag each pair so nothing gets mixed up.
Laces out, dry brush first
Laces and insoles come out. Loose dirt and dried mud are brushed off before any water touches the shoe.
Cleaned by material
Mesh and canvas get a foam wash, leather a pH-balanced cleaner, suede a dry eraser and steam. One method never fits every pair.
Soles and midsoles
Rubber edges and midsoles are scrubbed by hand. Yellowed white soles get a separate whitening treatment where it is safe to use.
Deodorise and sanitise
Insoles and the inside lining are washed and treated for odour, so the shoe smells clean when you put your foot in, not just on the outside.
Air dried, laced, delivered
Shoes dry slowly in moving air with no direct heat, which is what warps glue and cracks leather. Then fresh laces in, packed, and back to you.
