Shoe dry cleaning
Shoe dry cleaning for the pairs you cannot wash
Some shoes should never be soaked. Suede, nubuck, satin, embellished heels and good leather all need a dry clean: little water, the right solvent, and a lot of patience. That is what we do.
What shoe dry cleaning actually means
Dry cleaning a shoe does not mean nothing wet touches it. It means we clean without saturating the material. Water is what makes suede go stiff and blotchy, makes leather crack once it dries, and leaves tide marks on satin. So we lift the dirt with dry methods first and use moisture only where it is safe.
Which shoes need it
- Suede and nubuck: Chelsea boots, desert boots, suede sneakers and loafers
- Delicate leather: formal shoes, patent leather, lightly finished leather
- Satin and fabric heels: wedding and party shoes
- Embellished shoes: sequins, stones or embroidery
- Mixed materials: sneakers with suede overlays
How we dry clean shoes
We start with a dry brush to lift loose dirt. Suede and nubuck get a crepe brush and an eraser for marks, then a short burst of steam to open the nap and a final brush to set it. Leather is cleaned with a pH-balanced cleaner applied with a cloth, never poured, then conditioned so it does not dry out. Satin is spot cleaned by hand. Insides are deodorised in every case.
The result is a shoe that looks and feels the way it should, not one that has been scrubbed flat.
The process
How the clean works, step by step
Pickup and a proper look
We collect from your door, note scuffs, loose soles and old stains with you, and tag each pair so nothing gets mixed up.
Laces out, dry brush first
Laces and insoles come out. Loose dirt and dried mud are brushed off before any water touches the shoe.
Cleaned by material
Mesh and canvas get a foam wash, leather a pH-balanced cleaner, suede a dry eraser and steam. One method never fits every pair.
Soles and midsoles
Rubber edges and midsoles are scrubbed by hand. Yellowed white soles get a separate whitening treatment where it is safe to use.
Deodorise and sanitise
Insoles and the inside lining are washed and treated for odour, so the shoe smells clean when you put your foot in, not just on the outside.
Air dried, laced, delivered
Shoes dry slowly in moving air with no direct heat, which is what warps glue and cracks leather. Then fresh laces in, packed, and back to you.
