Knit uppers

Skechers knit uppers are soft and stretchy, so we foam clean them by hand with a gentle brush. No machine, which stretches them out of shape.

Memory foam traps sweat and smell. We clean insoles separately where they come out, and treat the lining to remove odour.

Light, soft soles scuff easily. A hand scrub lifts most of the grey.

The process

We collect from your door, note scuffs, loose soles and old stains with you, and tag each pair so nothing gets mixed up.

Laces and insoles come out. Loose dirt and dried mud are brushed off before any water touches the shoe.

Mesh and canvas get a foam wash, leather a pH-balanced cleaner, suede a dry eraser and steam. One method never fits every pair.

Rubber edges and midsoles are scrubbed by hand. Yellowed white soles get a separate whitening treatment where it is safe to use.

Insoles and the inside lining are washed and treated for odour, so the shoe smells clean when you put your foot in, not just on the outside.

Shoes dry slowly in moving air with no direct heat, which is what warps glue and cracks leather. Then fresh laces in, packed, and back to you.

Some survive it. Many come out with loose soles and a damp smell.
